I'm trying to fix my mum's laptop. It's a HP ProBook S-Series (I know I told her it wasn't a good idea!).
Anyway, I'm thinking that she hasn't activated the windows 7 or has got a mega virus.
She gets an error in the bottom right hand corner saying the windows isn't genuine. The laptop will not let us do anything in the way of system restore, downloading or opening programs, windows update, HP support assistant or anything like that. We are faced with errors about environmental variable locations each time we try to do anything.

It won't even let me do the Microsoft Diagnostics and shows this error:
C:\Users\mumsname\appdata\local\microsoft\windows\temporary internet files\ content.IE5\S7687CZ2\MGADiag.exe
The system could not find the environment option that was entered

Can anyone give any advice or possible solutions? It seems like there is so much going on here. Please bear in mind that for some reason the computer has absolutely no administrative rights at all even though the user I am on is displaying that it is the adminstrator.

Have wasted nearly 8 solid hours on this today and get truly annoyed with it (to not use foul language).
Please please help? I'm ready to throw the damn thing out the front door.

Here are some instructions to make life easier :)
1) To open an Elevated Command Prompt Window (the CP window), click on Start, All Programs, Accessories – then right-click on Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator. Accept the UAC prompt.
2) To run the commands easier, highlight the block of commands, and right-click on the highlight – select Copy. In the CP Windows, click on the black/white icon at top left – select Paste. The commands will run but may not complete the last command, so hit the Enter Key once.
3) To copy the results... click on the Black/White icon in the top left, and select Edit... 'Select All', and hit the Enter key - then use Ctrl+V or r-click+Paste to paste it into your response.
