After doing a quick google search, it appears to be a pretty generic error code.
Do you have any third party antivirus or firewall installed? If so try disabling those untill you get it to install. Remember to disable those services in the "services.msc" directory as they will re-enable at the next boot and could cause havoc with the install procedure.
The first thing I would try is to get a clean run with SFC (system file checker). I have been told that if you cannot get a clean SFC run you will never be able to install SP1. To run SFC, click on start orb, all programs, accessories, right click on command prompt and choose Run as Administrator. In the dos window that pops up type sfc /runnow sfc /scannow

Like many I have spent many agonizing hours attempting to install Service Pack 1 with nothing good to report . Tried InPlace , Restore , Readiness Tool and various anti virus including MSE but thankfully I had remembered I had this same type of problem last year . The Solution...
I have a Lenovo G560 laptop with Win 7. I have tried to download Win 7 SP1 from the MS download center and although it goes through the intallation process it doesn't seem to get installed.
I have read the reasons why SP1 may not install and I have checked each and every reason and neither applied to me.
The reason I want SP1 is to upgrade to IE 11 which required that I have Win 7 SP1 inorder to upgrade my laptop.
Does anyone have Win 7 SP1 on a DVD? Or how can I get around upgrading my IE without having SP??
I have fair knowledge of a pc and understand but I am not a programmer.
thanks
Aida
