Anyone missing a Vista like sidebar in Windows 7 try this link 7 Sidebar Gadget works like a charm. Better than the original sidebar in Vista. What Microsoft should have offered in Windows 7.

But isn't it exactly the same as vista, where you're limited to modules and predefined gadgets? I've used Desktop Sidebar for years and it's been the best type of launcher, dashboard, or bar of any kind. The thing even comes with it's own skinning program - and there are already about 200 on the site.
You can launch apps, folders, have a media player running, and everything from icons to themes can be changed. Why doesn't microsoft run that with their software? Just think of all the advertising they could have on the bottom like messenger.

Yep. I remember back in October 2009 when I downloaded the thing and thought there was no way it would work on a 64 bit but honestly, it works better than anything else. Never crashes, always starts, never causes a single error message. Damn it works more smoothly than my anti-virus program.
Also had it back when I had XP - only complaint there was it used up too much memory but I only had half a gig to start with anyway.
Give it a shot !

Just tested in Windows 7 64-bit as well, works great! Not sure how I like it as a tool... You don't seem to be able to customize the Stack content? I don't need stocks, for example...
