Trust MS to mess things up when everything was going so well

What next are they going to slap "Windows 7 capable" stickers on old Pentium 3 PC because 7 basic will just about install.

Windows 7 SKUs announced: your worst nightmare has come to pass - Engadget

A few more details here;» Microsoft’s Windows 7 line-up: The good, the bad and the ugly | All about Microsoft | ZDNet.com

I already answered this on the other SKU thread, but someone tell why choice is bad?

MS has made it pretty clear, there will be only 2 (two), I repeat, 2, consumer versions of Win 7 available to the general public. Home Premium and Professional. Home Premium is a sub-set of Professional, so if you buy Professional, you get everything that is in Home Premium.

Ultimate will be niche. It is basically a version of the Enterprise SKU for the consumer. The only real use will be for IT consultants that need all of the available enterprise tools.

Windows Starter may be installed on some LOW-END netbooks.

Walk in to your favorite retailer, and you will see Home Premium and Professional on the shelf. Compare that to the current situation where you have Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate, and I think you will see an improvement.

I like the fact that I have a choice and can choose a cheaper version if that is my need.

I can always upgrade online via the Windows Anytime Upgrade.
