Windows 7 so bright for these old eyes!

Hi Guys,

So I have bought a new Toshiba Satellite and now am working with Windows 7, I am not sure if it is my age but the brightness plays absolute havoc with my eyes so after googling different solutions, I settled for changing the theme to classic and obviously adjusting the brightness.

I am still not 100% happy but I guess I will live with it, but one question; now that I have changed the display to classic how to I add a picture to my desktop display? Normally I would right click desktop and go to personalise and then browse for a picture to place on my desktop however now if I do this it takes me to the themes page and if I try to add or customise I will lose the classic theme and be back to the bright lights of Windows 7 default display. How can I retain the classic look and have a picture on the desktop?

Any advice appreciated thankyou.

Welcome to SF Mark.

To make any picture as your desktop background simply right click on any picture and click on set as desktop background.

Hope this helps

Edit: You can also choose windows 7 basic theme in themes page.It is better than the classic theme while retaining the look and feel of windows 7.

Right click anywhere on desktop> personalize
Personalization window opens
Click Desktop background
Select picture location
Theme stays as classic
