Windows 7 sound, microphone device only

Hello,

Hope someone can help me. I have a problem using some audio streaming sw because the only recording device that I can select is the built in microphone but the audio streaming sw require to use the internal sound card for recording. When I open the sound control setting window I see only the built in microphone in the recording tab. The disabled and disconnected devices options are selected so no other devices are available. How do I add other recording devices to the sound control panel?

Some system specs would help here. Is your audio driver the latest from the hardware manufacturer, or are you using the one that came with Windows? If you are using the one that came with Windows, this could be the cause of the problem. Drivers supplied with Windows are only basic ones to ensure that the devices work. For full functionality, you will need to update the drivers with the versions found on the hardware manufacturers website.

Thanks for the reply. I have a sony vaio laptop with windows 7 drivers (NVIDIA HD audio). I have installed the realtek HD Audio but it did not change anything. I tried to update the nvidia drivers but it says that those installed are fine.

What is the full model number (and revision, if any) of your laptop? Also, what is your locale as some models are only available in certain countries.

OK, it is a sony vaio VPCF12MOE, locale should UK as I bought it here and it came preinstalled with windows 7 home premium 64. It has a preinstalled webcam and microphone (realtek HD definition audio default device). I can run SIW and get quite few info if it helps.
