Windows 7 SP1 RTM due on February 16 for MSDN customers, Feb22 for web

Microsoft’s Windows 7 SP1 RTM will hit MSDN on February 16 WinRumors has learned.

Microsoft has informed close partners that SP1 has hit the Release to Manufacturing (RTM) milestone. MSDN and TechNet customers will receive the bits on February 16, followed by a general web release (RTW) on February 22. According to sources close to the matter, Microsoft sent out internal announcements to mark the RTM of Windows 7 SP1 in January. Russian site Wzor confirmed the RTM too and has leaked several versions of Windows 7 SP1 for various languages.

I think the relatively thin SP is a good sign that they got Windows 7 right. But I would have liked more additional features. The main thing I'll get from it is the FX for RDC.

The Remote FX feature for RDP is for Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, correct? Meaning that if you aren't connecting to 2008 R2, SP1 that you won't get anything different.

I didn't know FX was for Server 2008 R2 only. Fortunately we use that at work. To bad it isn't in Windows 7 too.

By Windows 7 SP1 i mean: the OS with SP1 already slipstreamed

The 16th is next Wednesday from today. Don't know if it will just be the SP1 by itself for a while at first on technet, or SP1 standalone and an integrated Windows 7 -SP1. Then again, this is just a rumor at this point. Don't think the date's been 100% absolutely confirmed yet? Confirmed.
