Hello,

Was hoping someone could help.

I installed Windows 7 on my sister’s desktop a few days back, and ever since then, the internet on it would sporadically quit working, but it could still see the network…I’m still able to connect to my NAS and see other computers on the network.

I’m thinking it’s a Windows 7 issue and not my router because all other computers and the playstation still have internet connection while this particular desktop does not. I’m sure it’s not a hardware issue because the motherboard and Ethernet worked fine under XP with no issues.

So I’m thinking it’s a Windows 7 issue or a Windows 7 driver issue. The motherboard is an Asus P5Q SE Plus, and I downloaded and installed the latest driver from the Asus website.

I do have a question, how do I uninstall the driver and go back to the one that comes with Windows 7? I mean, I know how to uninstall the driver, but how do I get the Windows 7 driver that was initially installed back on? I haven’t tried this, but I’m thinking once I Uninstall the driver, Windows 7 won’t automatically revert back to the one it came with. I apologize, I’m at work and cannot test out this theory

I was just wondering if anyone had any advice for me? Any help with this is greatly appreciated

Hi and welcome

Its not a driver issue. I suspect that your problem is Homegroup. I bet you are using homegroup and IPv6 for networking. Homegroup is for homogeneous win 7 environments. Just win 7 machines. IPv6 in certain configs has issues with random drops, slow downs, etc. It is really an easy fix though.

All you need to do is create a new network using the "workgroup" model instead of homegroup. when you have it up and running you can disable IPv6 and kill homegroup. You can have them both untill you are sure that workgroup is 100%

Let us know if that doesnt do the trick
