Hey all.

I have a problem with my laptop. It's a HP MINI 2133 with Windows 7 32 Bit installed home edition.

Here is the problem. The other day I booted my computer and it said 'windows is loading files'. It then went to a system recovery screen. I thought this was a bit strange as I have never had any problems with it. I ran the reovery tool, it re-booted and everything seemed fine.

I went to start it this morning and I just had a black screen with a cursor flashing. After about 5 minutes it said 'windows is loading files'

I then got this error message.

Windows has encountered a problem communicating with a device connected to your computer.

This error can be caused by unplugging a removable storage device such as an external usb drive while the device is in use, or by faulty hardware such as a hardrive or CD-ROM drive that is failing. Make sure any removable storage is properly connected and then restart your computer.

Status 0xc00000e9
Info: An unexpected I/0 error has occured.

I pressed enter to continue and it just restarts the computer. I then get the black screen with the flashing cursor.

I dont have any usb devices nor do I have a cd rom.

I have to add that yesterday I punched my laptop quite hard around the hardrive area. However I had the problems before I punched it.

Thanks for your advice.

Trouble is I don't have a dvd-rom drive anymore. I took it back to the shop once I installed it. I punched it because it was driving me mad. Do you think I'm going to need a whole new hardrive?

Punching your HDD cant help it, but it might be a file in your HDD that is corrupt (moste likely) the startup script.

Its entirely possible...hard drives are fragile and do not like to be punched in the nose....good luck... ;)

I don't have anything on my hardrive that I care about so do you suggest trying to install windows again before buying a new hardrive.

You could attempt that, although if it doesnt boot you cant. Get a temp hDD or usb flash-drive and get your computer to run off that. See if it boots; if so its your hdd thats popped its clogs

Don't understand this part at all. You took what back to the shop after you installed what exactly?
Have you not got a "CD Drive" in the machine or is that faulty? If so what seems to be the problem with that?

Windows 7 installation

My laptop decided to stop booting so I decided to reinstall windows.

The problem I have is that it keeps getting stuck at a black screen!

It says press any key to boot from cd/DVD. I pres the key. It then says windows is loading files. Immediatley after this it goes to a black screen the disk stops spinning and I just have a black screen with a mouse cursor.

Do you think my hardrive is broken?

It might be as simple as a driver for the dvd player, or it might be the win 7 dvd might be damaged. He you tried that dvd on another computer?

Yeh I think so. I just took the hardrive out and the DVD worked fine. When I put the hardrive back in it's not even showing up on the boot options and I know it's connected properly. Does that prove that the harddrive broken?
