Windows 7 starter - Windows XP ?

As far as i know 7 is an upgrade to XP, therefore is it allowed / possible (free) to downgrade back to XP ?

Reason being i cannot get on with 7 (starter) and have heard that i can change to XP for free if needed, is this true ?

By downgrade I assume you mean in terms of licenses, right? XP has to be a clean install with format over win 7

You can re-install XP if you have the disk and license.

Could you please rephase your statement. It seems your wording can mean two different things so I'm not sure how to answer yet.

Example:
1. NO Windows 7 is not an upgrade of WinXP
2. Why don't you just tell us why you can't get Win7 stater to work?
3. Are you asking if after you install Win7 if you can go back to WinXP?
It all depends on how you installed and/or what you did after your install.
If you want to go back to WinXP just use your WinXP install disk.

In your specs you have written your OS is "7600x32 Win 8-128 bit" what is that?

Hopefully some of his is what you asked.

Thanks, sorry i thought 7 was an upgrade to xp.

Bought a netbook with 7 starter pre-installed.

Thought that (if it was an upgrade then i would be allowed to downgrade back to xp)

Always used XP (which is getting more difficult to find on new pc / laptops) so used to it, 7 is not compatible with my 'brain'... joke...

Can only quote 7 starter, but it is slow, questions everything you do, the format is confusing (compared to xp) couldnt even change wallpaper, until i asked for advise on this site (thanks for that ) the features that are advertised on tv etc. as i can see are not available on starter edition, just a few :huh:

Shouldnt be advertised as 7 if most of the features are missing in starter ?

Well Starter is relatively uhhhhh Basic and I found Home Standard kind of lacking for my needs, I have Professional in 32 and 64 bit for my laptops and Ultimate 64 on my desktop.
How long have you had your rig if it's less than 21 days I'd say return it as not being satisfied. Then order one with Windows 7 Home Standard....

Doh, had for more than 21 days i think, never buy starter again, its not as described, trades description, you see all the hype for windows 7, but starter is a cut down joke, defo not as described.

The Starter edition of windows 7 is getting to be quite prevalent on netbooks

I think Starter is of no help to anyone; best if it was removed from the Windows 7 itinerary IMHO.
