I was trying to play a game earlier today but it seemed to just be unresponsive when the rest of the computer was fine, so I restarted my computer only to have it come up with windows Startup Repair, said it was fixing the issue and should only take minutes and then changed to 'this could take hours' its now been going for about 8 hours and still hasnt changed... I honestly dont know what to do, stupidly I dont have any backups yet alot of stuff I want to keep! I have just plugged the harddrive into my other computer as a secondary drive, I could view all the folders/files but I couldnt copy or transfer, delete anything off it with it going slow and eventually saying it wont do it. Please help give me suggestions I've tried repairing from the Windows disc and nothing really worked.

Okay well start up repair has been going for 12hours and counting, I would like to know if I do decide to just reinstall windows (loosing everything) is it likely to happen again with this harddrive or once everything is reinstalled will it just be as random as before?
