Windows 7 system restore checkpoint location

Hi all

In windows vista, you could access the system restore checkpoints and manually restore the registry if needed (i.e. totally corrupt, system restore won't work)

The files were located in c:\System Volume Information\_restore{D86480E3-73EF.....D8}\RP1\Snapshot\ etc etc

It was also the same in XP

But I cannot find them in windows 7 - any ideas?

Try this, type system restore in search. When it appears right click and then click properties, it should show under target. Hope this helpsl

this simply shows the location of the rstrui.exe (system restore) gui as in c:\windows\system32

that is not what I want - I want the location it is storing the checkpoints as explained

I would like to know where the restore location is also

I believe they are now stored as shadow copies and can't be browsed.
