My wife just bought an external hard drive, and wanted to put the shortcut in the taskbar, but it does not appear to allow anything but programs to be pinned. I didn't see this solution anywhere...does anyone have a suggestion or fix?

Thanks!

You should be able to create a shortcut on the desktop right click choose pin to taskbar then delete the shortcut from the desktop.

Make sure the drive is plugged in while you are doing this just to be safe.
If that isn't working I don't know why it shouldn't be a problem.

Tried that...says I can "pin to explorer", but pinning to the taskbar is not an option

I have an ext. hard drive too. I can't find any way to pin to the task bar.
Instead I created a shortcut on the desktop .....
Connect your ext. hd to the computer > Start > Computer > right click at the ext. hard drive > click Create Shortcut.

try the link with the info on 'pinning folders' I posted above. That method worked for me on both computers.

Just make the folder d:\ or whatever drive you need it to be. Just make sure it's d:\ and not just d: (d being the drive letter of your drive)
