Windows 7 Themes specific for UxStyle?

Dear All,

I've been having a strong urge to try out UxStyle and the custom themes. (I prefer the UxStyle way, because I'm not too sure about patching system files with the other methods and messing up everything!!!).

I was looking for themes that could be applied using UxStyle, and I wanted to know if there are themes that could be used specifically with this.

I did look around and in places like Deviantart, but unfortunately I couldn't come across anything specific (or may be I didn't see properly.. the one' I saw, always had some files to be replaced or things like that!!!).

Can someone point me to the right place, please?

May be I should have written "visual styles" that can be applied specifically with UxStyle.

All Windows 7 themes can be used with UxStyle it does exactly the same thing as patching your system, except it run as a service.

However, there are in some themes additional customizations that you have to replace with system files, e.g ExplorerFrame.dll which changes the explorer back / forward buttons.

Yes, the themes / visual styles I saw could indeed be used with UxStyle, but as you say, there were some additional customizations that required replacing system files - and I wanted to avoid doing this, because I wasn't sure if I was ready to mess around with my laptop. So, I was looking for something that would be more of a complete package.

Having said that, what happens if I use a theme / visual style with UxStyle but do not do the additional customizations? Would I be right in understanding that, that particular customization won't be present in the new style? Like for e.g the explorer back and forward buttons remaining in the same windows default way?

Yes your right, you can still use them, like you said, all the extra bits that make up the theme don't have to be used but some themes may look a bit odd. Most themes don't come with additional extras, which I think is what your after.

You may be interested in this: Windows 7 Start Button Changer by =Kishan-Bagaria on deviantART

It changes your start orb to what ever you want and backs up the original to a safe place, so you can revert back to it if you like. Make sure you run it as administrator!!

The guy at that link has a few customisation programs which may interest you.
