Windows 7 Times out to desktop

I just purchased a new hp pavilion with windows 7, x64. It seems to time out randomly, approximately every five minutes, and takes me back to the desktop. I can hit any key to return to my original place. Is this normal? How I can keep this from happening?

It is so annoying, especially when I'm concentrating on a particular project, only to be interrupted by this lapse.

I think this is something that you paid for and not a problem
If your mouse cursor goes to the bottom, right near the clock, there is a little box, that can hardly be seen, the desktop apperars. Remove the cursor and you are back to your documents. Can this be the problem.

If it is you can disable it.

Richard- That's pretty close; the effect looks similar. However, I'm pretty sure my cursor wasn't on that little corner each time the effect occurred, but you could be correct. I'll keep an eye on it, and make note of the cursor the next time it occurs. Thanks!

If I was wrong, I would disable the feature, maybe its defective.

I would never have guessed how automatic we sometimes place our cursor in the exact same spot. Richard, you were totally correct. Each time my screen drifted back to the desk top, sure enough, my cursor was in that little corner of the screen. Thanks much!

So welcome ralph. I just had a hunch. Too much of a coincidence to be anything else. In addition, I have answered all kinds of posts, have never seen a problem like that before. Want to disable the function? If you do just post, I will show you how.
Wish you lukck, Take care.
