Welcome to sevenforums Brandon,
Doing a clean install would be the best choice.

Just so you know, if you would be dual booting Windows 8 with a linux distro, you would have to turn off the fast booting feature.

Fast booting would boot windows in about 4-5 seconds(in my setup it does), without it, it takes about a minute to boot.
