Hi

I understand with the correct specs, drivers, vid card (and monitor?) that Win7 PCs can have touch screen capability.

The HP TouchSmart IQ545a already has that, with Vista.

If I am in the markert for a new PC, and WANT at least the ability to have a WIN7 Upgrade voucher for future use AND want touchscreen capability, what do I specifically look for spec-wise?

In other words, are there any presently available PCS apart from the HP, that CAN have the touchscreen capabilty when on Win7. And is the HP TouchSmart IQ545a upgradable to Win7, anyone know, that would then retain touchscreen capability post-upgrade?

Gee, I hope that was clear!

Tks
Rod

To start i must say touch screen has been around since late xp days. Its just that Win7 is slightly optimized for touch screens.

Then in regards about the upgrade. You can wait about 25-30 days for the PC's running Win7 to hit the shelves(that way you don't have to mess with the install, hoping drivers work, etc.), or you can go buy a Pc that has an upgrade through the pc's manufacturer which can take months to receive back.

Surely the screen needs to be touch-screen 'sensitive' with correct drivers etc? I couldn't simply by a PC with Win7 as the OS equipped with any LCD monitor and expect it to be touch-sensitive though, could I?

Hi

Yes, you are right. You need to get specific hardware, in the UK I've tracked down this site which looks to have a good selection & price.

Touchscreen Monitors : SourceTech.co.uk

Try and search for a supplier closer to hand.

Thx for the suggestion.

I tried the origami pack but its not impressive. Tried finding the win7 touchpack but cant find it anywhere.

Are there any other applications you would recommend for touch (looking for some simple games so my daughter (2 years) can play around with them (she now uses touch to change movies in youtube)

Thx for replies
