Windows 7/Ubuntu 9.10 Dual Boot Question

Ok so I am running two operating systems at the moment: Windows 7 Ultimate 64x and Ubuntu Linux 9.10

I have them both in my dual boot menu, but I have a question as to how to organize them.

I recently visited this thread: http://www.sevenforums.com/installation-setup/49777-dual-boot-windows-7-64-bit-32-bit.html

...and they were basically explaining how to set your default boot OS to Windows 7. Well, I kinda have the same problem, except for when I follow the instructions on that thread, I get to the part where it tells you how to set it to default, but the only OS that shows up is Windows 7. It does not show any sign of Ubuntu whatsoever. Is it because I have to have a WINDOWS OS or what? But I would like to organize my boot menu to where it highlights Windows 7 as the first boot option rather than Ubuntu because I want Windows 7 to be the first OS on the list. Any help on how to make that happen, if possible?

Would you want to do it using the command line options, or download EasyBCD?

For now, open an administrative command prompt and type:
bcdedit

This will show you what the boot store looks like. Type bcdedit /? and you can see some of the commands to use to manipulate the store. Probably the first thing you might want to do in make a backup copy of the store

Please let me know how this "bcdedit" works for you. I am very intrested in doing this as well because of how much faster a computer opperates with Ubuntu instead of windows. As far as I know i think that I also may have to do with the order in which you do the install.

What is the order that you are doing the install and what is the partition setup that your using? Also are you Runing RAID-0?

The install method for Linux and windows is,

All windows os's
Then linux.

Linux uses grub, for the boot loader.

There are guides to tell you how to configure it from within linux.

But reinstall linux and that should fix the boot loader issue. In some linux installs there is the option to customize grub. you can rename it from "other os" to windows 7 and should be able to set it as default.

What I have set up on both my machines is installing Ubuntu after Windows, then installing the GRUB bootloader from the installer onto its own partition, then using EasyBCD betas to add a GRUB2 entry for Ubuntu 9.10.
