Windows 7 Ultimate 32 Bit to 64 Bit

Hi all,

Currently im using Windows 7 32 bit.Is it advisable for me to upgrade to Windows 7 64 bit since i am using core i5 750 with 4GB RAM.

Will 64 bit more effective to support for future program

I think your OK with Windows 7 Ultimate because 32 bit OS can take advantage upto 4 GB anything higher than that we might wanna upgrade the OS to 64-Bit

I suggest upgrading to 64-bit, as it will allow you to get the most out of your hardware. Please bear in mind that there is also no upgrade path from 32-bit to 64-bit so you will need to reinstall Windows if you upgrade.

If you did upgrade to 64 you could use all off your 4gig of RAM but it would require a complete clean install.
You would see not big improvement in performance but you would be ready when newer programs when come out that use 64 bit.

The first two steps are to back up all your data, and then the second is to have a friend sit with you for the first time who's done OS installs before.

I also like to have all of my drivers ready on a flash drive.

Thnx guys for all the help....i will be switching to 64bit version of Windows 7 cause it will fully utilize my core i5 processor with 4GB RAM

If you have a second hard disk around, I would suggest cloning the original system disk so you have a back up if anything goes wrong. Or, you could install the 64 bit Windows to the second drive.

I keep a spare 80 GB drive around just for that purpose. It saved me a lot of headache at least once.

Acronis True Image is good, and if you have even one Western Digital drive in your system, it's free from the WD website:

Seagate has something similar, but I don't use their drives anymore, so I'm not sure about it.
