Hello. I had Windows XP 32 bit for a long time - decided to switch. I'm looking @ Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. I have the dvd, when I boot from CD, it doesn't work - and when I try and open it manually from My Computer>DVD Drive, I get: This installation disk is not compatible with your version of Windows. Can I transfer from 32 bit to 64 bit? I don't care if all my files get erased and I need to make a new partition.

Note: I tried the same thing with Winwdows 7 Home Premium 32 bit, and it worked fine. Seems like I can transfer from 32 bit to another version of 32 bit?

You can upgrade 32bit to 32bit. You need to clean install from 32 to 64. To install 64 bit you need to boot from the dvd. Can your hardware run 64bit?

It should. Dual core CPU, 4 GB of RAM, tried to run from dvd, nothing.

Where did you get Win7?

You'll need the ISO file or to convert your download if necessary to ISO, then burn it to DVD using ImgBurn at 4x speed with Verify - it never fails.

Did exactly that. I made the downloaded file convert to an ISO image, then burned the ISO onto a clean DVD.

Verify the DVD against ISO file using ImgBurn.

Then if necessary burn another at 4x speed with Verify ticked.

Where did you download from. You may need to check the SHA/HASH against official checksum.

Another botched torrent download is what this sounds like. Do you have a valid product key? If all is "legal" you could have a dirty disk or a bad DVD drive.

I notice you list your OS as XP. If you have had Win 7 32 bit for a long time...
