hey guys,
I installed windows 7 ultimate x64 on my western digital caviar black 750gb, but it won't boot without the installation disc in my cd-rom drive. I have to keep the my cd-rom drive as the 1st boot and my hdd my second, and if i switch it around, it asks me for the boot disc. I tried to repair it, but when it asks me to select an os, it says that the disc is incompatible with the operating system.

Did you perform a "clean" install or an upgrade?

What is the exact error message when you attempt to start up Windows 7?

Also, what is the exact error message when you attempt to boot into the DVD"s repair console and run Startup Repair?

You are using a DVD drive and not CD-ROM as stated, right?

Did you originally install Windows 7 from another OS, or did you boot from the DVD? Did you format the drive before installing with DVD?

Please post a screenshot of full Disk Management drive map of your HD's. Use the Snipping Tool in Start Menu, attaching with paper clip in reply box.

This is how someone else fixed it: http://social.technet.microsoft.com...l/thread/8b24383a-cb60-443e-a8f5-00205dcb0bcd
