Windows 7 Ultimate x64 Install on Corsair V200 with M2N32-Sli Deluxe

Hi,

I am trying to install Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on my new Kingston 128GB SSDNow V200 (SV200S37A/128G) and Asus M2N32-Sli Deluxe motherboard.

The CPU is an AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ and I also have connected a Palit 9500GT graphics card via the primary PCI-E slot, PSU is Enermax 485W.

I have the whole setup with a traditional hard drive working just fine in Windows XP Professional 32-Bit with SP3, what I am trying to do is switch over to using the new SSD with a fresh install of Win 7 Ult X64.

The problem I am having is freezing/hanging when either on "Expanding WIndows Files" at 80% or usually on "Installing Features", either the cursor won't move or the dots next to "Installing Features" stop moving completely.. and I can just leave it for hours and nothing happens.

I have tried so far including combinations of each of these;

1. Installing from DVD drive
2. Installing from USB drive
3. Installing from USB drive with slipstreamed SP1
4. Using PS/2 keyboard and mouse
5. Installing with only one stick (2GB) of RAM, or two sticks (4GB) of RAM or four sticks (8GB) of RAM, or different pairs (4GB) of RAM
6. Updated motherboard BIOS to latest beta version
7. Swapped graphics card for another PCI-E card
8. Swapped graphics card for a PCI card
9. Installed on another PC.. worked fine on that PC (previous generation motherboard) then swapped to this machine but when Windows 7 has loaded it reboots the PC.. repair doesn't do anything just runs and runs finding nothing
10. Installed Windows XP Professional 32-Bit with SP3 and all fine.. why won't Windows 7 install?
11. Checked firmware of the SSD which is completely up to date
12. Tried all 6/6 SATA ports
13. Tried 4 different SATA cables
14. Tried the SATA RAID port but no luck as driver won't install on Windows 7 installation due to it being "unsigned"

I am very confused because surely if the SSD was incompatible with my motherboard then Windows XP Professional 32-Bit with SP3 wouldn't have installed and been working apparently flawlessly?

I am running out of ideas and have spent a long time on this.. I really need help please!

I have now tried installing Windows 7 on a traditional hard drive (80GB Seagate Barracuda - SATA) with the Asus M2N32-Sli Deluxe motherboard and it works totally fine..

Unplug all other HD's and peripherals.

Use the latest official installer with SP1 burned or written using Steps 1 and 2 in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

Update BIOS to latest version. If none reset BIOS to defaults. While in BIOS setup sets SATA controller to AHCI to try install. If this works convert XP to AHCI using Enable AHCI in Windows XP After Installation booting XP using the one-time BIOS Boot menu key.

Hi gregrocker, thanks for the reply.

I already removed all of my other hard drives and my PCI soundcard before I carried out all of the steps in my first post so there is nothing further I can remove unfortunately.

I have also already updated the motherboard BIOS to the latest version, unfortunately my board does not support AHCI, I already looked into setting the option in the BIOS but it isn't there and the research I've already done says pretty much my board doesn't have that feature but SSD's should work in IDE mode or somesuch..

I downloaded the ISO that you linked to and used the Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool from Microsoft Store to create a bootable USB stick on my 16GB USB stick, however after the creation is complete I receive the message "Files copied successfully. However, we were unable to run bootsect to make the USB device bootable. If you need assistance with bootsect, please click the "Online Help" link above for more information.

I also tried using Universal USB Installer which all seems to run OK and does not throw up any error messages but when I try booting from the USB stick I receive the error message "Can't find myself on the device I booted from.." etc..

I also tried burning the image to a DVD and the installation got to expanding files, around 30-% and then said that important files etc were missing and/or the disc may be corrupt.

Just wondering where I can go from here please?

Well you need to be able to burn a disk or create the flash stick. Make sure you completed the download or download another, then try burning with ImgBurn at 4x speed which always works. If not try new DVD's or another flash stick using both the methods you tried.
