Windows 7 Ultimate x64; no sound devices

Hey guys,
just joint this community cause i have a serious problem and dont know how to fix it.

Yesterday i reinstalled windows on my pc, using a win7ultimate x64 this time, because i recently bought new ram for my computer.
Since the first start i noticed, that my sound didnt work annymore.
I checkt serveral forums, installed new drivers etc. but couldnt solve the problem.

I dont know wich information u guys need to help me so here are some screens i collected:

I read that there is an option in the boot menu, where i can enable, disable the onboard chips for sound, but i didnt found that option in my bootsection, all stuff was enabled tho.

Hope you guys can help me, if there is anny further information needed, pls ask specificly.

Windows will install a generic "HD Audio Codec" if the integrated audio is detected. According to what I find this has RealTek ALC888 audio.

If there are any Intel motherboard chipset drivers, install them as one of the things the chipset drivers do is identify all the devices (if they are not identified they will not be detected). Also, check the BIOS in case the integrated audio (may be labeled as "legacy audio") is enabled. That too would prevent Windows from detecting and installing a driver.

If you can get the sound device recognized you can download the RealTek drivers can be accessed here Realtek

So how can i install these audio codec or the chipset drivers? :/
I dont know where i can access them and windows wont install them automaticly

I can't find anything on the Siemens Fujitsu site. Go to www.intel.com and then click on Support and then Automatically find drivers and software. It will install a small program that will scan your PC. If you are lucky it will list an available Chipset driver. Download and install the chipset driver, then restart the PC and see if Windows installs the "HD Audio Codec" for your sound.

If you are lucky and get a chipset driver, and install it, but there is still no RealTek audio device detection, make sure, as I previously noted that the on-board audio is enabled in the BIOS.

If the audio is enabled in the BIOS and still not detected, as with a chipset driver if none is found, for this old motherboard, I don't know where you will be able to get them. This is an older motherboard and there may not be Windows 7 support available for it.

Hi again,
so the Intel support programm couldnt solve it.
It detects " AMD High Definition Audio Device" as audio driver but no intel chipset...

I checkt the BIOS but cant find anny sound related device to dis/enable, tho i checked several subcategroies.
(i searched for things like "onboard sound [..]" and "legacy audio")

Further, there should be a support for my mainboard, i used win 7 professional 32bit for about 2 years on the same pc.

If it worked with 32 bit OS, and not 64 bit OS, with only 4GB of RAM I would go back to the 32 bit version. The main issue with using the 64 bit OS is that it will use more than 4GB of RAM.

Well it worked before I reinstalled windows. Before, I had win 7 professional, installed it about 2 years ago. Then, few days ago I reinstallt windows, couldnt find the old win7 pro cd so i grabed a win7 ultimate and installed the 32bit verion. I had the same problem so i reinstalled it with the 64 version - still same problem.

I know there musst be a solution but cant figure out what to do.
Besides, i still dont know where i can enable/disable the onboard sound in my bootmenu... :/

I can't find much about that motherboard and thus can't offer much in the way of suggestions.

Was the original Widows 7 install a full clean install (reformat hard drive and install)? or was it an upgrade install from Vista? If it was an upgrade install, everything that worked in the original OS would have been carried on to Windows 7 and the reason it all worked.

I allways formated my HDD when I installed win7, this time, and back then when i installed it the first time.

If I realy cant find a solution, will buying a new soundcard solve the problem?

I don't think a new sound card will help, since the existing is not being detected.

One more thing to try. Reset the CMOS Memory (BIOS) and see if that helps. With the PC powered off, remove the CMOS backup battery (usually a CR2032 coin cell battery) located on the motherboard for AT LEAST 10 minutes. Replace the battery, observing the correct polarity. Power on and see if that makes any difference. If the BIOS does not detect a device, Windows will not detect it either and resetting the BIOS sometimes will restore devices that were not detected.

If anything was custom set in the BIOS, it will have to be reset after the CMOS Memory reset.

Hey Guys,
tho you said a new soundcard wouldnt help, i gave it a try today and went to the shop. Instead of buying a casual soundcard i bought an usb audio adapter for speedlink. Mainly because it was cheaper (about 10€) and because it has a plug and play option via usb, wich increased the chances my pc will detect it. Few minutes ago i plugged it and TADAA, it worked, instantly, without anny problems. It only support stere and no 5.1 but that isnt important to me.

I highly recomend ppl with the same problem to buy such a adapter instead of wasting several hours trying to fix it, like me

Great. Since the USB is detected the USB sound card worked. I didn't suggest that as I thought you were considering only a plug in card.

There is still a problem with the motherboard and/or drivers and Windows , but the USB sound card was a good option to get sound.
