Hello digg, welcome to Seven Forums!

Will you please post a snip/screen-shot of the full disk management drive map so we can see what you have going on.

In the Windows start menu right click computer and click manage, in the left pane of the "Computer Management" window that opens click disk management and post a snip of that.

Hey Bare Foot Kid, thanks. Well, a really strange thing happened and yesterday I connected an external hard drive and started copying some large files but the copy wasn't progressing at all so I restarted my computer and when it was back up, BIOS said to select proper boot device, it was like Windows was gone, I checked boot priority and it was ok.. So, right now I don't have an OS installed, I can install the latest version of Ubuntu if you'd like me to test anything. Thanks for the help.

I tried startup Repair three times and it seems all the same, nothing changed.

I can't try Repair Install because I don't have Windows installed, what I got right now is two empty and formatted hard disk drives and a Windows 7 Ultimate x64 Installation Disc.

Any ideas?

@ eldinv, didn't work any of those solutions.

I still have the same error.

Yes, there isn't. I did everything, I still got the same error since the beginning:

"Setup was unable to create a new partition or locate an existing system partition. See the Setup log files for more information."

Is there any data on those hard drive you need. If not delete all partitions and follow that guide on how to install, take another image of where it gets stuck.

Hello again.

My apologies but I've been tied up on another project for a couple days.

If you have a look at the link eldinv is giving you it will solve your issues.

As long as there is no data on the Hard Disk Drive (HDD) that you want to save; use this tutorial to completely wipe, write zeroes to the entire HDD, it over-writes everything and you can use it to create a partition to the size you need.

my suggestion of 40GB is just an example, that's not enough, you need at least a 100GB for Windows 7 to have the room it needs.

1024MB = 1GB --> 1024x100 = 102400MB

I booted Windows 7 from the DVD, pressed install and got into the partitioning step, I opened a command window and wrote zero's like in the tutorial, two hours later it finished and still didn't let install..

Weird the first disk shows a "logical" partition instead of a primary one. Make sure all non essential disks are unplugged and perform the disk clean option from diskpart, then proceed to run the setup.

Unplug all but the target HD to try install. Clean it using tutorial and then format using WIn7 Installer before install. Unplug all USB devices.

Next set HD first to boot in BIOS setup, then use one-time BIOS boot menu key to boot DVD/USB installer.

Make sure you have the latest BIOS version update. if so clear your CMOS: Clear CMOS - 3 Ways to Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS Set your SATA controller to AHCI in BIOS setup.

Test RAM with memtest86 for 5-6 passes, swap stick, try install with 2gb only. Test HD with maker's full HD diag/repair CD scan: Hard Drive Diagnostics Tools and Utilities (Storage) - TACKtech Corp.

Where did you get Win7? If you burned it yourself, try again with ImgBurn, making sure ISO says "Bootable" in text when loaded, then burn at 4x speed.

You can also try install from flash stick. I use UltraISO trial version: after loading ISO, select Write Image on Bootable tab, format stick first.

Before I try to do any of those just let me ask this:

I have two HD's, a 500GB Maxtor and a 150GB Seagate, it wasn't me who set the computer's components all together. I suppose I've got a RAID system if I have two HD's or may I have two HD's working even without RAID system? If I have, I lose the configuration if I unplug any of the HD?

They aren't in a RAID as for RAID the HDDs have to be exactly identical. ;)

The screenshot shows DISKS are separate HD's not in a RAID.

DISK0 is Logical which cannot have an OS installed to it since a Logical disk.

The solution should be to unplug all but one HD, clean and format to install. Set it as first to boot in BIOS setup.

Well, that was it guys. Thanks for all the help/explanations..

Unplug all HDD but the target one, unplug all USB devices, write zero's to the target HDD trough command line, create a partition, restart and install..

Thanks again.
