The corrupted content shown in the CheckSUR.log is
directly attributable to the presence of Norton.
The most reliable way to
resolve and prevent this issue from occurring again is to use HP's recovery method to revert the system back to the state it was when first booted up.
Then uninstall Norton
before doing anything else.
You should then run their special removal tool to ensure
all remnants of "it" are gone:

The system has no AV installed now and you should
immediately create a Standard User Account for day to day activities such as surfing the internet -

As of today, a Standard User account is
much safer to surf the internet with than a User Account that has Administrator privileges -

Next, using
Internet Explorer, download and
save the complete, standalone package of Win 7 SP1 -
Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (KB976932)
Click the Continue button to Validate Windows 7 then download and save
windows6.1-KB976932-X64.exe
Create a folder on the root drive, the drive where Windows is installed to, usually C:\, and name it SP, Service Pack, or whatever suits your fancy. Move windows6.1-KB976932-X64.exe to that newly created folder.
Right click windows6.1-KB976932-X64.exe, choose 'Run as administrator', and agree to the UAC prompt to install SP1.
After doing all of the required restarts, install an antivirus that is
compatible with Windows and provides sufficient protection.
Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE), Avast, and Avira are compatible with Win 7 and they all provide sufficient protection.

Install one of the above, the corruption issue
should no longer be an issue in the future, and you're good to go !
