Solved Windows 7: Update KB2973112 Error Code 80073712

Hi,

I trying to install updates into Windows 7 N Professional x64 and it failing on .NET Security update KB2973112.
I tried lot of things that Google offers, but nothing works.

Sfc /scannow reports no errors.

You might have to delete the windows update catalog files and then run windows update again to reinstall the files for windows update. Doing this may help to resolve the issue. If not post back and we can take it from there.

Also have a pretty bad speaker setup which is a klipsch promedia 5.1 surround speaker setup with huge subwoofer and lg blu ray player/writer. Also a hp officejet pro 8600 plus wireless all in one and a logitech s7500 webcam.
Yes, I tried that too before, even more times. It didn't work.

OK, I tried it again, but nothing new. I cleaned catalog files and it failed with same (80073712) error. Here are additional log files from last point.

I've uploaded a file - ctnaa.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive
Please download and save it.
Right-click on the downloaded file, and select Extract all…
Extract to the default location - which will create a new folder ctnaa in the same place.
Open this folder - there should be two folders inside it (Manifests, and Packages)

Copy the content of the Packages folder to the folder
C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages

And the content of the manifests folder (.manifest files) into this folder:

C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Winsxs\Manifests

Now run the CheckSUR tool again (it may take a while)

Post the new CheckSUR.log file, and the CheckSUR.persist.log file.

Great - run another SFC /SCANNOW and see what it reports.
If it comes back all clear, do a new Check for Updates, and see what happens.
If there are still problems, post the new CBS.log and C:\Windows\windowsupdate.log files.
