Windows 7 update problem

Whenever i update my drivers or my players, after the next restart my windows creates problem. My DESKTOP CONTEXT MENU doesnt show, my search doesnt work, my drives show no drive names or alphabets. please help. Plz. Plz. Thank u!

It will benefit you to provide system specs and be more specific about the problem. For example; What drivers are you updating; audio, video, etc? Where are you getting the drivers; a friend provides them on a disk, the MS updates site, the mfg's site?

I have a ASUS k53s laptop with Intel icore5 processor, 4 gb ram, 2 gb graphics card. Whenever i update my vlc media player or ASUS drivers, aftr restart it says "preparing to configure windows", "installing windows update", then the problem occurs.
