Windows 7 Upgrade Adviser taking too long?

I have a Lenovo 3000 N100 with windows Vista 32 bit. I know it's possible to upgrade these successfully to windows seven from what I've read on the Lenovo Forums. Just to be safe I decided to run the upgrade adviser tool. It says it should only take a few mins to scan, but I've ran the thing for 45+ mins and it still keeps going. Is this normal for it to take more then "a few mins"?

Nope it isn't. To be honest you really dont want to upgrade from vista. You import any problems you have into a new system. MS recommends clean as do most of us

Well I have a lot of important files and stuff for school, and I don't have the time or money right now to be able to afford ways to back every byte of it up. The only reason why I was even able to afford Windows 7 right now was because of that student discount thing.

Have you considered the Windows Easy Transfer from your old computer to new compuer (even if it is the same computer)

I've read enough things online and on PC World saying that it is FAR from "easy" if it's the amount of time that it takes to upgrade that you guys are worried about, I don't have a problem with that. It looks like 3-4 hours is the average upgrade time (not 20 like that person from Microsoft is claiming that I think was drunk when he wrote it or something.) On the weekend's I know I'll have at least that much time if not more.
