Windows 7 upgrade from Windows Vista in Bootcamp

About halfway through my Windows 7 upgrade (32 bit), I get this error:

Windows cannot install required files. The file does not exist. Make sure
all files required for installation are available, and restart the
installation. Error code: 0x80070002

I'm running the upgrade through the Vista partition on my mac. Does anyone have any solutions? I don't want a clean install, since I've got way too many important applications installed on my partition, I don't have to spend days reinstalling everything.

nasman, that error code says exactly what is described, a file is missing or corrupted. Are you running the upgrade from the original DVD or have you tried to copy the files to the HD?

The files are on a DVD. Using the same disk, I upgraded my laptop with no problem.

I am really not familiar with the Bootcamp environment, but maybe you can try to create a USB drive for the install? If it is something it cannot read from the DVD at install, that might help: USB Install

Thanks for the idea wallyincc, but I just tried it and got this error:

Windows Setup experienced an unexpected error. To install Windows, restart the installation. Error code: 0x0

I don't think the install even got to "Setup is starting."

UPDATE:
I got the install to run, but I got the same error as running the installation from the disk. I think the error code this time was 0x8000FFFF

First this is not something I have a particular interest in ....

The last snippet of information that i read somewhere was that Apple are in the process of producing an update of bootcamp to enable the installation of Windows 7 on MAC hardware - this update is not present as yet in either leopard or Snow Leopard.

There are I think ways around this oversight, (an alternate boot loader?), but you would be better looking for this on a specific MAC site

And echrada I've already looked at that guide, but I don't want to do a clean install.
