well I'm pretty sure that RC is not going to qualify for an upgrade because it was free.
If you have a legitimate version of XP or Vista then you can use the upgrade version. Otherwise you will probably need the full version.

All of my systems still run fastest on XP 32-bit for the most part. Win7 is fun to play with, but I still prefer XP for raw speed, security, and functionality.
