Windows 7 upgrade setup error: ntdll.dll

Hi All,

I searched the forum and found a lot a references to issues related to the ntdll.dll, but nothing related to running the setup.exe for Windows 7 upgrade (from Vista).

When I run the setup for my upgrade to Windows 7 the setup application crashes early in the process and I get this error:

I could not find any thing on google that got me any closer on resolving this issue. Thanks!

You may try testing your system files. Open an elevated command prompt and enter sfc /scannow.

If that doesn't work, you may need to boot from the DVD or other installation source, and do a clean install. Be sure to backup your data first. You can use the Easy

Thanks Jonathan, I did perform the suggested sfc /scannow and it did find some issues that it could not fix and it ask me to check the log file for further information. I did that too, but I was not able to understand the file enough for me to take any real action. I think I will need to boot from the CD and do a fresh install, which is always provide the best install anyway.
