So anyone used this tool? I have an ISO file that I purchased/downloaded from Digital River and I am trying to make a bootable USB drive. I have a brand new 16GB drive that I am trying to use so it has PLENTY of space on it. Anyway, I go to run to tool and it gets to the part where it says formatting and then it says something like "we are unable to copy your files, check the USB drive and the ISO and try again."

Anyone run in to that issue? I tried to google it but can't seem to find an easy fix. Any thoughts?

I have 4 files in total that I downloaded. One being an iso file, one being an exe file and then two box files. I tried using the tool with the iso file.

What is the size of the ISO file? If it's around 2.34gb then try burning it with ImgBurn at 4x speed.

Otherwise, make an ISO using the tutorial on the box files, or download the ISO MS provides.

I believe that the ISO is 3GB or so. I would like to have it on a bootable USB rather than a DVD. Can I download the ISO that MS provides even though I did not purchase through them directly? If so, can I just get it off their website?

You may need to try more than one method to successfully write the ISO to flash stick:

How to: install Windows (any version from XP to Win7) from a USB/flash drive | Featured | dotTech

The one that always works for me is loading ISO into UltraISO trial version, then on Bootable tab: Write disk image file, use format button first.

To boot stick use one-time BIOS boot menu, sometimes listed under HD's.

Interesting, maybe I will look at giving one of the other methods a try.

I vaguely remember that it had to be formatted as FAT or FAT32 in order to work. I might be wrong on this, but check it out.
