Windows 7 usb Problem

So first off i didnt know where to post this so im posting it here. Alright so i upgaded my Sony Vaio VGN-NR310E Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit to Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit and everything worked for a night then i woke up and our power was turned off and when it came back on the usb ports all stoped working. Ive tried restoring back to when they were working they worked for like a couple minutes then went back. I then tried the same thing again and they didnt work at all. Ive tried unistalling them in device manager on regular windows and safe mode. Installing a fresh copy of windows isnt going to happen because i have way to much stuff to reinstall and back up so help on repairing this would be greatly appreciated.

Was the battery in the computer when the Power Cut

Also What country do you live in? Do they use AC or DC Current?

You might want to try this workaround.

If you have a USB keyboard and mouse plug them into your USB ports, restart your computer and see if Windows detects them.

If they are detected the USB ports will have installed correctly, so unplug the keyboard and mouse, and then try connecting your other USB hardware.

You might also want to check in Device Manager to see whether there is a problem with the USB Controllers.

all right ill try and i know the problem is with usb root hub they have the yellow caution sign thing

You may need to update your chipset drivers then.

I would imagine either Sony or your motherboard manufacturer would have them.

In particular, check the links for Windows 7 Upgrade and Drivers.

Make sure you choose Windows 7 32-bit drivers.

Download the correct drivers and save them to your hard drive or whichever location suits you best so that you have them for future use.

Once you've saved them you can install them.

I still reckon the problem lies with your chipset/motherboard.

Check this Windows Logo'd Products List to see if your hardware is compatible with Windows 7. You'll have to drill down into the different categories, but it should help you decide where you go from here.

It is similar to Vista's hardware compatibility list and will tell you what will work with Windows 7 and what won't.

I can't do all the work for you, you have to make the effort too.

The link was provided so that you could do a search on it and see whether your motherboard is compatible with Windows 7.
