Windows 7 - user account

I have laptop. I am using on win 7, where I do not want to crowd my admin account with various user software.

I have separate user for USERSOFTWARE. I installed the software under this user (USE_ACC) with short cut. When ever I run the program after logging into (USE_ACC), it says "Do you want to allow the program to make changes ........?"
And prompt for admin password to run the program every time.

If we install this software in admin account, it will not prompt for admin password, but it is not a good idea on maintenance perspective.

How do we make this work with other account (USE_ACC) without admin prompt?

I did search on google, they suggest disabling security function (UAC). It is not a good one either.

Did you come across this?

Do you use win 7 with admin account and user account basis?

I turn off the user account control on every pc I build. Never had an issue.

What do you mean by usersoftware ?

Not sure whether this is what you're after, but you might want to try disabling the secure desktop. It doesn't disable UAC.

Thanks for your reply. I created standard account apart from Admin account, because I do not want to use admin account for each activity. Is it a accepted practice in win 7?

Even if I want to run pre-installed games in this standard account, I am getting "do you want ........?"

What do you mean by turning off the user account on every pc you build?

Do you mean keep only admin account for all activity without secondary standard account?

I find another posting, where you talked about admin account and standard account. What will be the drawback on turning off the secured desktop? Will it notify , if a program try to change some thing etc?

I am getting "do you want ........? admin password prompt to run the pre-installed games from standard account. I hope these games were installed via admin users and available for all users of the computer.

What is going on here?

This is what I mean by turning off the user account control. You can do it through user accounts in control panel.

If you read through the links we give you, all the information you need is there.

"With the Always notify or Default UAC setting enabled, your desktop will be dimmed when you are notified of a change to your computer. You must either approve or deny the request in the UAC dialog box before you can do anything else on your computer. This behavior is known as the secure desktop.

It just means that with it switched off, the desktop doesn't dim when UAC is asking for approval.

The bottom line is this: If you don't want to be prompted, warned, nagged, call it what you will, turn off UAC and use the built-in administrator account.

However, this level of security, or lack of it, is not recommended. The choice is yours.

As far as I'm aware, it is. On the other hand I think I'll do a bit of research to confirm it.
