Looks like you will need some sort of bootable disc

I just noticed you can't get into Safe Mode.

I don't think there is a 7 recovery disc available for download - you may have to d/l the whole thing.

On the bright side, there are more recent builds of 7 around.

Hi,

Are you able to boot into Safe Mode - tap F8 repeatedly as soon as you have started the machine.

Advanced Boot Options - Vista Forums

From there, see if you can do a system restore to a point before the problem , or select Last Known Good Configuration.

i have tried but unfortunately i cannot get into safe mode or even do a system restore..
:(

when accessing safe mode my computer stops and reboots

(it stops at )
Loaded: windows\system32\drivers\CLASSPNP.sys
(and then it reboots)

Maybe faulty/corrupt install files.. If it comes down to getting a new release, grab the latest one.

try using the windows backup. I'm not currently on my W7 machine, but im sure someone can point you in the right direction.

Well you need to be able to get into the computer in order to use windows backup, unless you are able to do it through the cd/dvd although I don't think you can. I am trying to think of another way to help you out.

If it is truly a problem, take that HDD out of your computer and hook it up to another computer and use that computer to access the broken HDD to receive your files. Just make sure you boot from the working HDD that has windows on it to get the files off the Windows 7 drive.

I know this is a pain, but if the dvd/cd cant fix the problem and you cant get into the operating system i see no other option. Sorry.

One other thing: You try using the windows cd/dvd and in the repair command prompt use "fixmbr" and the "fixboot" commands.

^^^, agreed, or if you have one on hand, use a Linux distro live disc to retrieve your files, and copy ot an external HDD/Flashdrive.
