Hello slecks

If you can still boot the PC, will you please post a snip/screen-shot of the entire disk management drive map with a full description as to which drive/partition is which, so we can see what you have going on as there may be a fairly simple way to resolve the situation.

In the Windows start menu right click computer and click manage, in the left pane of the "Computer Management" window that opens click disk management and post a snip of that.

Also have an Asus ha1002xp netbook with Win 7 Ultimate installed.
Since you need a suggestion that doesn't require having an OS (hello?) try resetting the CMOS in BIOS setup: Clear CMOS - 3 Ways to Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS

Set the SATA controller to AHCI first, then IDE mode if necessary.

Unplug all perhipherals and other HD;s.

You may need to initialize the new HD on another machine using Disk Mgmt. Try creating a smaller partition around 100gb for install.
