Hi there

I am trying to install an OEM version of Windows 7 on to my Vista laptop. I have checked compatibility and that is all OK. When I install the disc I get the opening screen and select 'Install Windows 7'. The screen goes to the Windows 7 background with the words 'Setup is copying temporary files' after about 30 secs these words change to 'Setup is starting'. After another 30 seconds the screen returns to my Vista desktop with the start screen again.

I have disabled all firewalls, anti-virus etc but still the same, I have even tried installing in Safe mode.

has anyone any ideas

Thanks

Graham

Windows 7 installation problem from OEM disc

Many thanks for that. Shall have a good read. I don't have a lot on the laptop so a clean install should't cause me too much trouble (famous last words!!)

Cheers

Welcome to SevenForums, Geekay
Was you starting install from inside the vista os or was you booting from the OEM disk? Sounds like a disk burn problem to me. Where did you get your disk? Retail or download? Now would be a good time to post your specs to help give insight to what we are working with. Good luck to you with this problem :D
