I think Windows 8 will be better because they will break with the old 2000\XP code because of the virtual XP mode, so the code will be much slimmer = faster kernel.

IMHO, Releasing Vista was not a mistake, but necessary though painful step to get where we are today with Seven. Like an artist that creates a flop, but learns something that was needed in order to create the next masterpiece.

Even though I like 7, and already preordered it through amazon (Home Premium version),

I think it is overrated as and should really be called 6.1 or Vista R2 because of the lack of any really substantial change in the user interface.

Granted, there are a few improvements that are really very nice

7 even took away some of my most used features in vista, such as steadystate/guest mode (which was originally included but removed before RC)

If 7 had been released as Vista, this would be a very significant improvement over XP.

As it stands, I'm not shelling out another $120 for another copy of 7 for my laptop when Vista works just fine.
