Hello,

Recently my mothers windows 7 desktop has been throwing up the error message "Windows Explorer has stopped working" when it has just finished logging in, it then restarts windows explorer and seems to work up until I try to access files through file explorer or go into the home view of the control panel. I've also been getting the error saying "qt Platform plugin not found/missing".

I don't know if it's connected at all but Microsoft Word(2007) is also giving error messages whenever it's opened.

I've tried using CCleaner, and running the cmd with "sfc /scannow" and neither have fixed the issues. I've attached photos of the problem report and error messages.

What are some options for how I can go about fixing this? and is it possible it could be an issue with Malware?

Any and all help/suggestions are very much appreciated.

Hello and welcome Riversong now I know you have run sfc but it is genrally accepted now that it is run for at least three runs so try that and then try these if no go

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html < if necessary include the /f and /r in the command line as per Option2
Run these in safe mode and the sfc often best run for two to three runs – you can leave out the /r switch in ckdsk if you feel it not necessary
NB SFC best run for about three scans

if no fix then these

SUPERAntiSpyware | Remove Malware | Remove Spyware - AntiMalware, AntiSpyware, AntiAdware!
Malwarebytes | Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium
AdwCleaner Download
ADW download from bleeping computer delete any rubbish found with the malware scans
(NB If you are running Kaspersky as the main AV then it might need disabling it when trying ADW because it does not like it at times)

Edit slipped my memory there is this too https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/kb/924611 but try the others first
