Windows 7 Wireless Internet Connection Issue

I have just installed Windows 7 Ultimate on my PC, but I cannot connect to the Internet even though I've tried almost everything. My connection is there but i can't press the connect button and it's very frustrating. I am very new. Can someone help please?

well, since you haven't given your specs.....
we need to know these:

1] what's your mode on internet connection? ( dsl, cable, lan, dial up)
2] how do you log in your internet? (always in, ppoe -login namne / password)
3] what's your network set up? (modem-router or modem only or modem + wifi router)

Sorry for bumping an old thread but I just recently started having this problem and so far, this is the only topic I could locate on Google. Long story short, I have a HTPC connected to a 3D projector. I can not connect to the internet (pci wifi card) at 1280 x 720p or 1280 x 800 resolution. 1280 x 720p @ 120hz is the resolution needed to play 3D and 1280 x 800 is the native resolution.

I've tried installing and rolling back the Nvidia drivers and the only way I can get around this issue is if I change my desktop resolution to 1680 x 1050 (@60hz). I can not for the life of me understand what is going on. I've reinstalled Windows 7 x64 twice and this issue appears as as soon as I install the Nvidia drivers for the GTX 460 card. Internet connection is PERFECT when the stock VGA driver is used. But after installing the GTX460 drivers, why would I be able to connect to my wireless router, but the link to the internet is broken? Or, when I look at the network properties, it'll show that i'm connected to the internet, but when I open a Internet Explorer, it just sits there. No sooner do I change the resolution from 1280 x 800 (or 720) to 1680 x 1050 does the wifi connect to the internet.

I'm only able to use the last version (v260.99) because if I upgrade to v266.58 or the v267 beta, my 3D becomes unstable when I use Total Media Theater 5 or Power DVD 10. This is a known bug and Nvidia has not fixed it - they actually exacerbated it when they updated the driver from 260 to 266. http://www.arcsoft.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=7886&PN=3&title=full-screen-in-3d-mode

Can you get online if you connect via ethernet cable? Have you tried moving the pci card to another slot, or considered buying a new card? Have you checked for updated drivers for your card?

Me? No I can't use an ethernet as my HTPC is located in the 2nd floor loft of my home and I don't have a connection up there. My only solution for something like this would be homeplug, and I'm not sure if it'll work because this loft was an addition to a single story home the previous owner built. I don't know if the wiring is on the same circuit or however homeplug works. I honestly don't want to invest $100 [NetGear 200Mbps x2] to find out - and at the same time I *can* connect to the internet with wifi, but only at a resolution I can't use for 3D. I guess it wouldn't be so much of a problem, it's just that I wouldn't be able to stream 3D via the web.

Yes, I bought a new card and the problem still exists. I even bought a different brand PCI card and they both use the same Ralink driver. I could have kicked myself.This problem exists with both the stock Microsoft driver for my wireless card, and the Ralink driver. I even put my old motherboard back in. I just don't understand how I can have internet connection at 1680 x 1050 and not at 1280 x 800 or 1280 x 720. My Xbox360 is right next to the HTPC and it's wifi connection is perfect. I've unplugged the Nvidia 3D Vision emitter, got rid of all wireless mouse/keyboards and still have this issue.

I'm learning to live with 1680 x 1050, however, on a 150" screen sitting 12 feet away, I have to zoom in on most webpages if I want to read something. Plus the resolution is really ugly, like the brightness is too high, but if I lower the brightness for this resolution, it makes the 1280 x 720 too dark, and it's already dark enough in 120hz and when I'm using 3D. My only hope is that this will be resolved when I upgrade the HTPC to a Sandy Bridge or AMD Bulldozer. I won't even use these wireless adapters for fear of having the same issue, I'll buy another one.
