Hello all,

I'm having a continuing problem with crashes on my new build. I've reinstalled the OS twice already and now the boot problem is back. I get a few days respite between each lockup.

The first time it happened I was at work, so I don't know if there was a BSOD. When I got home, I found the Startup Repair diagnostic running and the only error it was coming up with after repeated tests was "corrupt file". I found a fix for this on a tech forum, followed the instructions, but no go. After shutting down and restarting, I wasn't given the option for Windows safe mode. I ended up reinstalling the OS.

The second time I think I got a BSOD. I don't remember what displayed on the screen next. I used the System Recovery Options from disk and ran the Startup Repair a few times. It came up with error: "boot manager failed to find OS loader". I found a fix for this on a tech forum that involved a Bootrec command prompt to fixboot, fixmbr and rebuildBCD. I tried them all, one at a time. None of them fixed the problem. After the last restart, I got a black screen with a "boot manager missing" message. This time I had to reformat the disk drive (SSD) before I could reinstall the OS because of an MBR issue? This time I set a System Restore point.

The last time I got a BSOD. After running a lengthy ChkDsk diagnostic, it came up with no errors. After reboot, the machine goes to Startup Repair, runs diagnostics and comes up with nothing. I do a System Restore. Now the machine boots up to a blank screen instead of normal Windows 7!! Not black, not blue. It looks like the screen on power up.

I am able to start Windows in safe mode. I am attaching the BSOD dump file to this post. I wasn't able to get the System Performance test to work. I'm getting a "class not registered" error screen.

I hope some of you folks can help me with this. It's getting really frustrating. Thanks in advance.

Windows 7 64bit Home Premium, retail for new build.
This is the original and only OS on machine.
I have installed it three times.
The software is 2-3 months old as is the hardware.

Thanks for your reply. Sorry to take so long to answer your post. I went back and looked at the unzipped file and it should contain everything that the downloaded app picked up. I'm not sure how to get the crash reports you referred to attached.

Thanks for the link to the thread. I was able to restore Windows 7 using a saved system image that I didn't realize I had. Also, I went to the Intel and Seagate sites and downloaded the latest firmware, chipset and storage drivers, respectively.

So far, the machine is working fine and booting to Windows 7 normally. I hope it lasts. Thanks again for directing me to the thread.
