Hello,

Newbie here and I can't figure out why windows 7 hangs when I try to restart -- always have to shut down and then turn the machine on again.:(

Event viewer gives 7000 error code The NDSPCIIO service failed to start, system can't find specified file. No other errors noted.

When I googled NDSPCIIO, there wasn't much listed.

thanks for any help

Susan W.

Nope, not much listed .... apparently it's in the Driver's 'subdirectory'.

Try these easy fixes. If they do not work come back and we can disucss the more difficult ones.
Go to device manager make sure all drivers are working properly.
Type event viewer in search. Then view the event viewer for errors.

Go to an administrator account type cmd, in search.

In cmd type sfc /scannow. It will look for errors and make some changes. If there are errors run it a second or a third time.

If that does not work.

Take your windows 7 DVD. Place it in the drive and boot the computer from the DVD. Then choose repair install. You may have to go to BIOS (check computer manual) and change boot from Hard Drive to boot from DVD/CD.

This should work.

We will try a clean boot. Follow these instructions from MS. A clean boot will allow you to determine is some process or program that begins at boot is the cause of the problem. Have patience, I am sure that I or another member of the forum will get you going.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

Did you try the repair install with the Win 7, DVD?

Deactivate the firewall and A/V see if it works then.

In addition to Rich's step you could try theses Reboot in Selective Start by disabling all unwanted Services. Also it worth Running a full System scan Try Malwarebytes and do a complete scan.

Hope this helps,
Captain

My brother tried to help as well and uninstalled the NEC monitor driver. He contacted microsoft but they blamed it on 3rd party software. However, I now get a fatal error when I try to restart

A fatal hardware error has occurred.

Reported by component: Processor Core
