I used to have win 7 x64 and I was having a problem with corrupt archives and not being able to extract with winrar etc. I switched to x86 for about a year. Being out of site out of mind type thing I wanted to get the best of my 6 gigs of ram I could and I reinstalled windows 7 x64.

I'm having the same problem again.. Corrupt archives, damaged files etc. I'm 100% sure these downloads that I normally do (video games) archives are not corrupt and would be working perfectly in x86.

I tried to google the problem and I saw some others had the same issue, no answer to this problem could I find. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you install the windows from a Retail DVD? could be a corrupted installation... or a corrupted HDD, could be failing..

I'm being dead honest, I installed x64 like an hour or so ago. x86 was working flawless for over a year. I do a lot of torrenting daily so archives are on a daily basis, not one corrupt archive until I installed x64 and now most of them are corrupt. This is the same problem I had over a year ago. It's quite frustrating.
