Hey guys I'm thinking on putting Norton 2014 internet security on my desktop running W7 and my laptop running W7 is it better I bank and shop so I'm looking for a good software it doesn't seem too use a lot of usage of CPU or ram just wondering if anybody using it also

Norton Internet Security (NIS) is an excellent AV program. I am using it since years. It uses few resources and is very effective fighting malware.

I am not aware of any specific software for on-lins shopping. You do your on-line shopping thru the appropriate webpages - e.g. Amazon, Newegg, etc.

I would strongly advise against on-line banking. That is too dangerous. If you really have to do it, use a Linux system (virtual or from a stick). That gives you better protection.

Thanks I took off Norton did some googling and it says to use Rapport from your bank and Microsoft's malware tool and Microsoft Security Essentials for free antivus

I reccomend you use Norton or Avast and Malwarebytes. Remember to disable auto quarantine because false positives can be found and removed. Run scans on each on DIFFERENT day for each every week. If they run at the same time, they can detect each other and mess everything up.

Norton Internet Security is way worth it if you want to use some money. AVG used to be one of the best AVs but they seem to be getting worse. If you don't want to pay, AVAST is one of the best free AVs that you can use that have real time protection shields (not firewalls, in my opinion the default Windows Firewall is good enough.)

Running Linux in virtual is much better. A lot easier to operate and to install - and it does the same thing. Here is a video demo how to run Linux in virtual on a Windows 7 host.

how about dual booting Linux along side windows I use Ubuntu from time to time I put Ubuntu 12.04 on my wifes laptop and its been flawless for about a year since I installed it
what do you prefer in Linux or like they say Linux is Linux is what you really do and what to find the Linux for you

If you like dual boot, then use dual boot. But that is really the worst option of using Linux alongside with Windows.

Can you explain what you mean by Microsoft's Malware tool as I don't recognize that software. Is it MSE, or is it something different?

I disagree. But to each his own. I think it is more likely you can find out something wrong quicker with online banking then without. To many people I know got accounts or identity stolen and found it way too late, since statements take a month. Most banks as soon as you purchase something show it right on your account. Imho, that is better than waiting for a statement until it is too late.

Most banks also have basic functionality when you log on, (especially if you stick with smaller banks) showing only how much money you have in your account, and thats about it. The chain banks that are nationwide and stuff will be more vulnerable, since they let you transfer money etc.

Oh, I think that is only for if you are already infected, please correct me if I am wrong.

You should only try dual booting with Linux and Windows if you have been sucessful before at it. You don't want anything to get messed up and possibly lose one of the operating systems.

Hey thanks for answers one last I think I've decided to go with 2014 Norton Internet Security but if I do can go without rapport I was reading about 2014 Norton and it has identy theft, malware, spyware and virus so really I only the one software or would hurt to install rapport and 2 others I use is the free antispware and malware.

You should only have 1 AV program installed. You can have scanners in addition. NIS 2014 is a good choice.
