Windows 7

Hello, I recently installed Windows 7 after having Vista. I have it installed and everything works, but there are times when my computer runs really choppy. There are times when I type something and it takes a couple seconds for the letter to appear on the screen.

I have a decent laptop, Dell Inspiron 1531, 4 gigs of ram, and a dual processor. Also, when I performed the system rating for my computer, I got a 1.4, and with Vista is was higher.

Any suggestions on what may cause the choppiness and the poor rating?

Thank you

Hi and welcome to seven forums

When you upgraded from vista to win 7 did you do a clean install or upgrade?
32bit or 64?

If Malware bytes turns up nothing, I would take Beech's advice and create a new Firefox profile. Firefox is generally a good application, but it has its issues just like Internet Explorer--despite what zealots may tell you.

Well, nothing showed up on Malware, so I am clean. Now, how do I create a new profile in FF?

Managing profiles

Keep in mind that you will have to install your add-ons again after you create your new profile.

Computing is primarily business use with off-time troubleshooting practice: Remote desktop, scanning and producing invoices, some minor graphics work.
Firefox profiles are typically found at:

C users appdata roaming Mozilla firefox profiles.

You will have to turn on hidden file viewing to see them.

Profiles normally start with a random name like z88ww55www.

When I first installed FF, I discovered I had 2 profiles by default, but that is abnormal. You should have only 1 in normal circumstances.

You can back up your profile by simply dragging a copy of that folder to a safe second location.

I did a clean install of 32 bit Windows 7.

Does anybody know why my processor is graded at 1.4 when I run that test? It was higher when I was running Vista.

Run msinfo32 from a run box and tell us what the processor is in that computer. I think I am getting the same processor score on Win 7 that I got on Vista, but I don't think those scores are worthy of much attention.
