Windows 7100 RC1 64 bit... is slower?

I dont see the speed increase everyone seems to experience at ALL. I can see what seems to be a bit of a stability increase, few bug fixes, and the process it goes about when installing a program with known problems, but thats still not done right IMO, doesnt turn the file to a preferred comp mode. I say this, cuz more than just geeks will use this OS, and regular people rarely if ever do a right click / properties on a setup.exe.

Boot time is no faster if not a tick slower to logon screen, altho possibly a tick faster when booting from logon TO desktop, gadgets seem to load better. But this is only the 3rd day i have been using it... still a little early IMO.

Until Nvidia updates the drivers on their site, you're best off using the in-box / WU drivers.

Ugh, screw that noise. The Win7 Nvidia drivers suck right now. Tried using them and got a lot of problems. Installed the Vista64 drivers and everything has been working wonderfully.

the only diff I can see is in the startup and shutdown. Both of which have become slower as the build increase. Strange.

Yes, I can confirm this too.
Windows 7100 RC 1 is xx% slower on the video end when installed on "my" T7500 intel laptop.

I find this extremely disappointing as i was expecting 10% more, or at least the same as the W7 7000 release.

Furthermore, overclocking the GPU did not make any noticeable difference..!?
Tested this with nTune and ATItools. Somehow performance did
not ad more then 4 to 5%..where around 30 percent is the normal situation in XP-Vista-W7 7000 .
Lost 2 points on the performance scale.. Interesting :sarc:

Working windows is more stable then on Vista( Or should we say W7 delta), some what the same as the 7000 release. Fingerprint seems to appear a little bit faster, but it takes the same till the system comes to an complete rest.

There is going to be hell about this.

64 bit 7100 is sloooow

I've been running the 32 bit 7100 and it has been SO stable (apart from bizarre things going on with my Java). Yesterday, someone gave me a new Intel 2.66 core two and some more ram so I changed the cpu; I thought it wouldn't start because of HAL, but it did and it was really fast. So, to capitalise on the extra ram I had, bearing in mind the 3Gb limitation, and I was already using 3Gb, I downloaded the 64 bit 7100 build and stuck the extra ram in. But it's hanging a lot, and it's definitely slower. The Windows performance rating is down, but I could tell that just by using it. I'm just about to put a spare hard drive in and go back to 32 bit to check.

By the way I've also experienced quite a lot the shut down when the machine is left on (it only does it when you leave the room I've noticed ) and it would always be really tricky to restart. I solved it with my power settings, basically disabling hibernation and going for the "performance" type of profile.
