Windows 7260 Help Urgent please......

i jus wanna download Windows 7260 and asked my friend about that...then he said this

"Build 7260 is just a RTM build. Meaning that it's not the final build. Windows 7 will be Retail released this October 2009. As of right now, it's still in testing, so Build 7260 will have bugs and so on. Just be aware that new builds of Windows 7 come out almost every week. Most of the time a couple of new builds a week. Using build 7260 will not let you use it for life, only until the quit date."

what u will say about this???? please tonight i jus wanna download windows 7260..is it ok to download or wat???pls clarify me....

if that version is not safe..,which version of windows is safe and best???

its ok to download and no 7260 is only rtm candidate, however i would wait for couple of days if i where you. there will be "final"(rtm) version out soon(tm).

7260 Is fine, but it will expire 02/03/2010

And remember the RTM will be leaked soon.

Windows 7 is still in testing but it is already very stable.
For the build to install it depends on the version you want, x86 (32 bits) or x64 (64 bits)
For the 32 bits version the last build is 7260 and it seems very stable.
For the 64 bits version the last build is 7232 and it is very stable too.

First welcome again. RTM means Release To Manufacturing. That means the people who make their dvds, etc. 7260 isn't rtm (rtm probably is going to be released in the next few days). Neither 7260 nor rtm is set in stone and the win 7 released in october will be slightly different. M$ has had people testing (include those of us here) win 7 for months and has gotten rid of MOST of the bugs. Is it safe? Yeah probably. It will not break your machine, nor anything else. If I were you I would install the RTM build being released shortly, but if you cant wait go ahead with 7260. About the quit date, for 7260 its in 2010. Microsoft can always change their mind but til 2010 you should be safe

BTW one thing I always suggest is to do a back up just in case.

x86 is 32bit. Neither is THE RTM. Is it safe? define safe. where did you download it from? it seems to be a stabile build

There are several different versions of .iso on the net, they are the same only modified slightly different.

The basic difference is:
1. ALL of them CLEAN INSTALL.
2. Some are modified to all you to upgrade from different versions.
2a. some modified RETAIL, some Modified OEM.
3. If you do not have Win7 installed, then as long as you dl from a SITE you trust. you should be good to go. for at least 1 yr more or less.

7260 is Test version. Expire date is 6-01-2010 plus 90 days since ea
-rearm (x3) gives you additional 30 days..

Most bugs in 32 bit are fixed. some video need fixing (for hdmi and HD tv), and a few audio. Basic functionality is pretty stabile
