Windows 741 Offer - Multiple Copies

I have two .edu email accounts, but when I placed the 2nd order through the student program (741) I realized I was still logged into the same email address.

So, now I have bought two Windows 7 on the same email account, whereas it says you are only allowed to have one per .edu email address.

I got my first copy (Home Premium) about a week ago, and it's already installed and being used. I have not touched (or downloaded) the second copy (Pro), but I've already been charged the $33.

What should I do? Can I download and install this second copy? Will they charge me for the full amount later on?

Ihave found MS customer support to be excellent. Not like some other companies, where support is nothing but problems. Contact them, like Walker suggested, the problem will be rectified, quickly.

It's a reseller, and not actually MS, but I suppose I should give it a try anyway. It's just that all they have is that contact form, no phone number or anything.

Yes, Professional would be a nice upgrade from Home Premium, just think of it as Windows Anytime Upgrade, it would be safe to use the second copy, since you already have an available download.

So I sent them an e-mail asking to cancel the second order, since their ToS explicitly states you can only have 1 order per student. I got an e-mail saying back they can't cancel any orders.

I followed up laying everything out very clearly, saying it's same e-mail address, second order, etc. and whether it is alright for me to download, install and use my second copy. In response, they sent me 'your windows is available for download, please go here and enter this cd key' etc. If that's not a green light then I don't know what.

It seems that even though they may not be supposed to be selling more than 1 per student/e-mail address/billing address, they don't really seem to care. I guess it's more profit for them.

I'm glad you were able to get a response from them so quickly. It's not strictly a matter of profit, however. Of course MS wants to control costs by not giving everyone and their mom a free copy of Windows 7, but in the end, one more person using Windows 7 - especially if they *think* they got it for free by accident - is of greater value than ~$150 in the bank. Ultimately, we just want people to see why Windows 7 is so awesome!
