Wait a minute. I am going to buy an OS I don't like, install a bunch of extra programs and configure them, to get it to where it does not look and act like an I phone, then find other programs just so it will do what I want it to do. Jump through all these hoops just to get it to work like what I already have. And you want to know what Planet I live on?

I couldn't have said that better myself. Microsoft needs to learn to listen to their customers instead of ignoring them and trying to do what Apple and Google do best.

Same here! I never could jump through hoops to begin with! While some are raving how much they "love 8" I find the drastic changes out of the clear blue a royal turnoff like too many others are finding!

Most are asking the same questions in regards to "Why should I need to download or buy a ton of 3rd party wares to do what 7 is already doing for me now?". The blog writes of course are having a field day lashing out at 8 from all angles as well.

The problem with 8 is that MS has been too focused on mobile market shares and comes out with an OS lacking two formats or at least the two types of setups depending on the type of system if not offering a different flavor of 8 for the standard form seen in Windows since actually 3.1 in many ways!

The only "smart move" was improving the default av protection which is enabled if the user lacks a 3rd party software. Some core improvements as far as security, stability, and some possible performance gains come at the expense of losing a desktop form of OS on the down side of all this.

It's like MS is trying to be the first one into the "OS on the desktop/laptop computer is just like the phone" market. See, unfortunately, in many areas, MS is often late to the party and playing catchup with many established companies. In this arena, it's like their deadset on being first. And sadly the OS is somewhat of a mess. The integration between the desktop and Metro is just plain clunky.

As one of the previous posts pointed out they seem to have smashed a mobile OS gui into the traditional desktop OS but forgot to make it an option rather then stripping away some of the most common essential ingredients you expect to see with any desktop OS!

One remark heard a month before the RP was out was something like "What is 8 a mobile OS?" by someone obviously disappointed at first glance like most of us have been. Apparently the MS mobile market agenda following the MS/Google wars has pushed them to slam a mobile orientated OS onto the desktop market as well.

That only makes those of us who say Google should drop out of the OS business entirely even more stead fast!
