I'm using it on a computer at work. it's not that appealing to my honestly, and I highly doubt many in our work organization will move over to it. Even for the low $39 upgrade price at home, my intention is to stick with Windows 7.

Click on "Windows 8 Forum" at top of page and read all about it.
A lot of members from here are on that site and its run by the same people. I have it running in a dual boot and I like it. Check the Tutorials at Windows 8 Forum on how to install Windows 8, especially in Dual Boot.

I installed in a virtual machine and have been playing with it a little bit. Time has been a bit limited for playing the past few weeks so I have not done much.

So far, more annoyed than impressed.

I started reading tutorials over at EightForums. I am focusing right now on anything I can do to to improve my own functionality with the OS. Finding common items is a chore because someone decided to reorganize all the "cabinets" (if you know what I mean). My right click button seems to be useless!

I find it humorous that MS seems to be relying on keyboard shortcuts for navigation. Back to the Future! This is probably due to the assumption (hope) that people will be using it on smartphones and tablets and not so much on desktops.

Again, probably more my problem than W8's, but it will take a while to learn how to do all the usual stuff differently.

Mixed Emotions

I tried it on my laptop a few months back. While it was very annoying at times, it was also very interesting. It was actually kinda fun learning the new OS, and I thought it was pretty cool looking. But eventually I became frustrated, as the new control panel (I forget what it's called- I think it's just settings now) and it was very limited. Also the computer tried to mimic the way Android multitasks, which is a big no-no for a desktop OS. I couldn't even figure out how to use the new IE, and I couldn't even use my own picture as the wallpaper for the start screen. And there is no way to disable Metro, and the desktop no longer has a start menu. Although, on the positive side, it was really fast, and it looked quite appealing. I thought the new start screen was fairly easy to navigate, and I can totally see the appeal of it on tablets. I could even see it being really popular on netbooks with a few tweaks.

It's pretty clear to me that MS is trying to create a rival for Android for the tablet world. And I believe that in the near future, Android and iOS won't be the only mainstream tablet OSes. But as for the full-size laptop and desktop world, I would stick with seven or vista.
